What if you could narrow down your vital wine knowledge into the top 3 white and top 3 red wines? From this foundation, you can build upon your entire wine knowledge base. This session is an excellent primer or refresher course, and will also answer questions such as: What exactly is a wine's “terroir” and why has it shaped the history of wine? Sept. 29, 7-9 pm: Classics & Counterparts™: Get Out of Your Wine Rut!
Congratulations! You finally know which wines you like. So you select them again…and again…and again. If you find yourself reaching for the "old standby" wines time and again, this session is for you! Join Gilat Ben-Dor for an enlightening comparison of classic grape varietals and their tasty cousins - with a few twists! Advance reservations required.
Oct. 7, 7-9 pm: The Yin and Yang of Wine and Cheese Pairing
Cheeses around the world are produced with the same craftsmanship, regional traditions and pride as wine, and are often made with specific wines in mind. Why? To allow us to experience a nirvana of synergy with the correct wine and cheese pairings. In this session, you will learn cheese basics, as well as key techniques for pairing cheese and wine. You will come away from this content-rich session with a new appreciation for unique and delicious cheese and wine combinations from around the world. Advance reservations required.
Oct. 14, 7-9 pm: Discover Australian Regionality: Beyond the Shiraz
In the vast land of breathtaking terrain, kangaroos sometimes nap among the vines (seen with our own eyes!). Explore the signature wines of this fascinating country, and go well beyond the famous Chardonnay and Shiraz alone. As the 2008-2009 Wine Australia ambassador and winner of the national AusWISE competition, Gilat Ben-Dor will also share her personal account of her time in four different wine regions of Australia. Oct. 21, 7-9 pm: Bordeaux for Beginners: Demystifying a Legend
Bordeaux wines evoke images of prestige…and confusion! Which is the true Bordeaux grape? And what is all the hype, anyway? Discover the rich history, drama, laws, and secrets that make Bordeaux the world classic it is today. This session is led by Gilat Ben-Dor, who is a Certified Bordeaux Educator by French agency Sopexa. Advance reservations required.
